How to Motivate Yourself to Study
How to get motivated to study? The question is really simple, but the answer is rather complicated. Although there are many ways to motivate yourself to study, some of them involve overcoming mental barriers as well as pain and frustration. Basically, there are no easy and quick solutions to become totally energized and inspired about studying or completing not so interesting project. Luckily, there are some things you can do to motivate yourself to get on with the study or work that has to be done.
Think Positively – Instead of worrying, replace those negative thoughts with, for instance “I’m making progress”/”I’m getting better and better”. Don’t think whether you will be able to finish a task, but believe that you are capable of doing anything your teachers want from you. Inspirational quotations can help you a lot in this phase of motivating yourself; every thought has to serve you and help you move forward.
Spend Time with Comrades – I don’t know why, but there’s something really energizing and comforting about spending some time with people who are going through the similar painful experience as you. It’s even better to talk to other students who were going through the same experience, because they can give you motivating pieces of advice such as “Once you finish this project, you’re going to feel awesome and relieved! It’s hard, but it will be rewarding!” In addition, you’ll get some practical tips and tricks about passing an exam or not making some common mistakes while writing an essay. Getting together with comrades while preparing for some complicated exams can turn stressful, boring tasks into fun and exciting ones.
Everything has an End – Yes, reminding yourself that some boring experience will not go on forever can be relieving. Most students become overwhelmed and just want to quit their torturing experience. Instead, keep in mind that everything will be changed if you just keep taking action!
Finally, remove all the distractions: turn off your TV (and computer, if it’s possible), put your phone(s) on silent, keep yourself hydrated (keep a bottle of water nearby) and focus on what you need to do.
